Over the years, the school has grown to include Grade 2, expanding to four classrooms and a community library. Open to village children on weekends, the library serves as a valuable educational resource, providing access to books, reading opportunities, and special learning programmes that extend the school’s impact beyond its enrolled students.
Education at the school is provided free of charge. In return, parents contribute several hours each month to maintaining the school’s organic vegetable gardens, fostering a strong sense of community ownership and involvement. The gardens are being developed to provide a sustainable source of seasonal produce for school meals, while the school’s buffalo supplies both nutritious milk for students and fuel for the biogas system used in meal preparation.
With support from the Responsible Tourism Trust (RTT), students have also established a tree nursery, giving them hands-on experience in environmental stewardship while generating additional income to support the school’s long-term sustainability.
